Patek Philippe Aquanaut Jumbo 20th Anniversary 5168G-001
The 42.2mm, almost cushion-cut case features fine brushed and polished finishes, with a polished screw-down crown for enhanced water resistance. This larger, more masculine size fits neatly into the growing trend for larger case sizes, which is gaining traction even among the Big Three watchmakers. The case is made of 18kt white gold. It features a satin-finished bezel and a polished crown guard that protrudes from the right side of the case to protect the polished crown. The crown, like the buckle and automatic-winding rotor on the watch movement, is adorned with the Calatrava cross; a symbol and testament to Patek Philippe’s commitment to creating perfect timepieces.
While the name, screw-down crown and rubber strap all suggest that this is a professional diver’s watch, the 120m/400ft water resistance suggests that this watch is for a different niche. In fact, at this water resistance rating, some light snorkeling and swimming is recommended. However, given its price, it’s probably best to keep this watch on dry land, away from the prying teeth of sharks and other creatures lurking in the deep blue ocean.
This 20th Anniversary Aquanaut, reference 5168G-001, secures to the wrist with an Aquanaut push-button folding clasp engraved with the Calatrava cross logo.
