Blue Footed Booby: A Symbol of Marine Biodiversity
-
The Blue Footed Booby (Sula nebouxii) is a distinctive seabird known for its striking blue feet, which play a unique role in its behavior and mating rituals. Native to the eastern Pacific Ocean, especially the Galápagos Islands, this bird is easily recognized by its vibrant blue feet, which contrast with its white and brown plumage. The blue hue, resulting from carotenoid pigments obtained from its diet of fish, is also an indicator of the bird’s health; the brighter the blue, the healthier the booby.
